Inspiration
I began writing poetry while in a state of deep emotional pain, and it was through poetic expression that I began to experience the healing of my deepest emotional wounds. When I added the ancient, sacred practice of African drumming, my poetry came to life! I coined the term Drumetry™ to describe this art form.
What is Drumetry™
At its most fundamental level, Drumetry is the integration of drumming and poetry, two of my passions.
Drumetry is medicinal music on a mission: the music is the medicine, and its mission is to heal.
Birthing Drumetry was an exercise in freedom, and it can be likened to the Hero's Journey: to live through pain, be transformed by it, and to share the gifts and wisdom with others.
